Michael Liot

Michael Liot is a French songwriter, singer and producer. Passionate about cinema since childhood, he wrote screenplays and plays, dreaming of one day becoming a director. In the end, it was music that won out.

He founded the band We Were Evergreen in Paris, which later became Evergreen, where he is the composer, lyricist and lead singer, alongside Fabienne Debarre and William Serfass. The trio moved to London, where they recorded several acclaimed EPs, including ‘Leeway’ in 2013, followed by their debut album, ‘Towards’, released in 2014 on Island Records and Because Music. The album brought the band international recognition. 

It was during this period that Michael began composing for film, co-writing with Evergreen the soundtrack for Isabelle Dorval’s film ‘Fonzy’ (2012). He also tried his hand at directing, shooting a short film as well as a music video for Evergreen’s album ‘Overseas’ (2018).

At the same time, he became head of music programming at Radio Nova (2017-2021), which broadened his musical horizons. He then turned quite naturally to composing for the world of podcasts, creating soundtracks for fiction, youth series and documentaries for ARTE Radio, Radio France and Louie Media.

Songs occupy a central place in her world, combining her love of musicals with her work as a songwriter for Evergreen. Her recent projects include ” La dernière nuit d’Anne Bonny‘ (Anne Bonny’s Last Night), a series written by Claire Richard and produced by ARTE Radio, which won the Original Music Award at the Paris Podcast Festival in 2023, as well as an adaptation of ’Les Malheurs de Sophie‘ (Sophie’s Misfortunes) into a musical (France Culture, 2025), whose refrains evoke, according to Télérama, ’as much Schubert as Mylène Farmer .”

Recently, Michael composed the music for two short films by Chloé Mazlo, including ‘La Valise’ (The Suitcase), presented at the Directors’ Fortnight, and wrote the music for a Longchamp campaign. At the beginning of the year, he released a new album with Evergreen, and in 2025, he is collaborating with Hermès on a musical show scheduled for the autumn.
