Alex Beaupain

Songwriter Alex Beaupain is a reference for dozens and dozens of young French singers. He has inspired some of the greatest modern performers, ranging from rappers (Orelsan) to pop artists (Calogero), and always been a favourite of the French press.

More so than Benjamin Biolay or even Serge Gainsbourg, he is the songwriter who’s worked most with French cinema legends (from Deneuve to Ardant, including Adjani, Sagnier, Mastroianni and Fabian). He has garnered more than 20 awards, from César Prizes to Platinum Records, but he has never been much of a self-promoter. Always a favourite of the French political Left,  his song «Au départ» was the campaign anthemn for François Hollande’s 2012 electon victory.

Christophe Honoré wrote the film Les Chansons d’Amour about Alex Beaupain’s life, and a book was also released in the fall of 2020 (Un chanteur, at Fayard).
