Lionel Liminana

Lionel Liminana discovered cinema in the 1980s through video rental shops in his rural hometown. Every weekend he devoured filmmakers that would go onto influence his music deeply- from George Lautner to John Landis, François de Roubaix to Elmer Bernstein.

He mainly plays guitar but claims to touch everything that lies around his studio without really mastering anything, and this is certainly what characterizes his work and his identity as a musician. The studio here is used as a workshop, an analog and organic tool, where accidents and experimentation are at the heart of the sound sought after. Italian plastic organs, Soviet Fuzz pedals and Fender Bouzoukis figure alongside modern virtual instruments in Liminana’s arsenal.

He has collaborated with legends including Peter Hook, Pascal Comelade, Anton Newcombe, Etienne Daho, Laurent Garnier, Areski Belkacem, Emmanuelle Seigner and the Wampas.

As for film work, Liminana composed and recorded the soundtrack to Pierre Creton’s “Bel Eté” as well as that of “the world we knew” by Matthew Benjamin Jones and Luke Skinner.
