William Serfass

Born in Southwest France, William Serfass studied classical and contemporary music from the age of 6, starting with piano and choral music. As a young adult he attended various classes (composition, conducting, harmony, arrangement) at the Conservatoire de Musique de Pau, Toulouse and then in Paris, where he obtained his diploma in percussion, while obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in History of Art and Culture. His first short film as a composer of the original music, Yugen (Raphaël Daniel, 2010) won the Jury and Audience Award at the Sorbonne Student Film Festival.

His next move was as part of indie-pop trio Evergreen, with which he released two studio albums and toured Europe, played in the USA or at festivals such as Glastonbury to name only one. Aside sprung his solo project Roscius, with which he started many collaborations: in Fashion (Hugo Matha, Causse), in Art (Musée des Arts Déco, Fondation Hermès), with renown Museums (Orangerie, Musée Bourdelle, Musée Guimet, Erarta à St Petersburg, Kunstmuseum de Bern), as well as in VR (FOST Summit, NYC), and in the advertisement world (Nissan, Bose, Eristoff).

William is talented multi-instrumentalist, eclectic composer and music producer, although it is always a certain raw emotion that transpires in his compositions, as can be heard in the soundtrack of short “Luzinete” (Carla Di Bonito, 2021) and “The Traitor” (Marco Bellochio, 2019). Serfass has a series of film/doc projects coming out in the coming months – he worked in ancient organ mode with the composition of variations on O Sanctissima for the film “Les Cadors” (Julien Guetta, 2023), in electronic and percussive mode with “Animal Social” (David Bertram, 2023) and in 80’s synth wave mode in «Rainbow Warrior» (Doc, Edward McGurn, 2023).
